This is one post in an A-Z series of 26 where I am writing about living as a Mormon in the wilderness of Kuantan

Until we can transport ourselves to another planet with no obvious machinery, we are nowhere near the realm of knowledge of God.

Nothing has caused me to think so meaningfully and deeply as Mormonism. While the main principles and ordinances of Mormonism can be learned by a child (we are helping our daughter prepare for her baptism next month), their depth provides a lifetime of study. 

I do not only savour learning the doctrine, but also the history of Mormonism. It has its beauties and its controversies, truth and deception, just like a great action book or movie. Just like history itself.

It could be said that my gaining of knowledge really kicked off once I left school. Learning certainly doesn't end there. I believe considering or contemplating the spiritual to be a higher form of gaining knowledge, as opposed to reading, memorising and lecturing.

I relish whatsapp audio conversations with my brother in England, who brings church lessons in England to me in the wilderness of Kuantan. We share interesting points of doctrine, discuss them, and give them plenty of time for contemplation. We help each other see different perspectives and analysis of spiritual principles.

The illustration above is a satisfying cycle of information sharing and knowledge gaining.

Knowledge is power.

Conversely, the more we know, the more we know we don't know. There are things beyond our mortal realm of understanding that we may never know in this life. Perhaps we are just not meant to know them now.

Learning never ends, neither here, nor in a future existence. As Mormons, we are instructed to gather as much knowledge as possible - 

"Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand;

Of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad; the wars and the perplexities of the nations, and the judgments which are on the land; and a knowledge also of countries and of kingdoms—"
